Hello dear reader, trust you are doing fine!! If you’ve been following my posts, you’ll notice that I’ve been writing on Discovering Purpose. This time around, I’ll like to tell you story, a story about me.
Its a story about the journey of my life so far (in summary).
Life can be said to be a sum of all the different stages one goes through as he/she grows, including the good, the bad and the ugly.
Some people go through life without really living, some are sheltered, some struggle before they can make it, some don’t get to fulfil purpose, while there are others that just seem to always thrive.
Everyone has got their different life stories, and life would be very boring if all our stories were the same. In short, no two persons are the same, not even twins, though they may be similar.
The question you might want to ask me is why do I want to share my story?
I’ll be right, if I say that the search for discovery of my life purpose did not start until I was in the university.
I studied computer engineering in the university, and it was in my second year that I began to think about what aspect of computing I’ll like to go into. A conference I attended in my third year, helped to open my eyes to self exploration and development.
I decided that one of the things I wanted to do with my life is to help people, especially youths and the girl child. I would love to help them discover themselves and discover purpose. In my mind, I already had a name, “YES YOU CAN “. And even though things have not really gone as I planned, I still have that goal in mind.
I’ve come to realise that in life, there are people going through a lot of struggles, especially the youth. There are a lot of things vying for our attention, that cause us to lose focus and direction.
There are a lot of helpless and confused people around. Even though they may be smiling externally, they are inwardly fearful, scared and they are being impressed by the wrong set of people. They need help and encouragement, but only a few voice out.
Back to my own story, finding purpose for me was a big deal. I remember in my Junior Secondary School days, I had dreams of being an accountant, then in Senior Secondary School, I wanted to be a mathematician. Somehow, I ended up in the university, to study computer engineering.
First year in the university for me was tough, I was a shy young girl coming straight from the secondary school with no proper orientation about what life in the university entails. Yes, I am the first child, and my parents never went to the university. So, I went to the university with my secondary school mind, and when I saw my first semester results, I was shaken.
To cut the long story short, there are many defining moments in my life, but I’ll share just three (3) of them.
