The day after the crucifixion must have been the hardest for the disciples.
Jesus was gone. Their hope—laid in a tomb. The One they had followed, believed in, and given up everything for was now wrapped in linen, sealed behind a stone.
There was no promise of Sunday—at least not one they could see. Just silence. Waiting. Fear. Doubt.
That day is what we now call Silent Saturday.
And if you’ve been in a long job search, a stalled career, or a season of rejection after rejection, you may know what Silent Saturday feels like too.
I do.
Trying to get into the job market in the UK has stretched and stressed me. I came in hopeful—qualified, skilled, driven. But even with all that, I’ve faced more closed doors than I care to count. Applications sent into the void. Interviews that went nowhere. Days when I questioned if it was all worth it.
It’s the part of the journey no one claps for.
The part we don’t post about.
The in-between.
But here’s the thing about Silent Saturday:
- Though heaven was quiet, God was still working.
- Though the tomb was sealed, the story wasn’t over.
Sunday was coming.
Resurrection was coming.
And maybe that’s the encouragement someone needs today.
- Your Silent Saturday doesn’t mean God has abandoned you.
- It doesn’t mean your career is finished.
- It doesn’t mean your gifts don’t matter.
- It’s a pause, not the end.
The job market can be brutal. Reinventing yourself in a new country is exhausting. Navigating unknowns while trying to stay faithful to your calling is not an easy feat. But don’t let the silence deceive you—something is stirring beneath the surface.
Easter reminds us that delay is not denial.
So, to everyone in a Silent Saturday season—
- To those waiting for the callback, the offer, the breakthrough,
- To the dreamers holding on with tired hands,
- To the professionals who feel unseen despite all the work—
Hold on.
Be resilient. Stay ready. Keep hope alive.
