7 Key Leadership Principles from the Life of Nehemiah

…Last week Sunday, during Sunday School, my pastor shared some leadership principles from the lives of Nehemiah which I would like to share with you…

The Bible is a book that transcends seasons and generations and it is filled with lessons for everyone at every point in life.

The Books of Ezra and Nehemiah describes the return of some of the Israelites from exile to rebuild their cities and their wall. In a bid to achieve this, they face oppositions both internally and externally, but there were certain men who stood as leaders and kept motivating the Israelites to keep building; one of such men is Nehemiah (Nehemiah ch 1 – the end).

Over the past few Sundays, we have studied the lives of both Ezra and Nehemiah in my church during Sunday School and during last week Sunday School, my pastor shared some leadership principles from the lives of Nehemiah which I would like to share with you.

These principles apply to everyone who is a leader or looking to be one. Enjoy!!!

  1. Leaders receive the vision and are also responsible to communicate the vision.
  2. Leaders are responsible for value building and also for communicating these values with key stakeholders
  3. Leaders refocus against vices. They keep building the faith of their followers. Good leaders are able to say no to vices; sometimes as a leader, you will have to take a hit to prove that you stand on your principles.
  4. Good leaders resist the violent. As a leader, you need to drive out of your dreams the drivers who are against your dream.
  5. Leaders are always ready for victory. Leaders see failure as a step not to repeat in their path to victory.
  6. Leaders reconcile the virtuous.
  7. Leaders reform against violation. As a leader, learn to build structure into your team/business; create institutions that outlive you; create teams that can run in your absence
You need to drive out of your dreams the drivers who are against your dream. #TheEsthitudePlace Share on X
