  • I was opportune to visit Kintampo waterfalls in 2019 with some of my friends during our trip to Sunyani, Ghana.Β  It was a fun trip and Kintampo was supercool because it had both a waterfall and canopy walkway in one compound (for lack of a better wordπŸ˜†).
  • Kintampo waterfalls is one of the highest waterfalls in Ghana on the Kumasi–Tamale road.

There are 3 main attractions at this waterfall.

    1. π“π‘πž 3 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐑𝐞 π–πšππžπ«πŸπšπ₯π₯
The waterfalls, one of the main natural attractions in the area, is formed by three (3) main drops where the longest drop measures 25 meters (82 ft) in height and after a number of steps, and cascades, the river falls about 70 meters (230 ft).

It is said that the volume of the water increases with more visitors’ presents. Basically, the louder the noise, the more the water falls.

    Stage 1

We had to walk from one end of the waterfallΒ  (stage 1) to the other end (stage 3)

βœ”The falls is backed by a cave which houses a colony of bats.

βœ”The water disappears under the rocks and reappears 20 meters down stream.

βœ”The water flows throughout the year.

βœ”Do not swim or bathe here.

    Stage 2

βœ”The water tumbles down and behind several large rocks.

βœ”The water disappears and reappears much wider at the base of the rocks.

βœ”No swimming or bathing here too.

    Stage 3

βœ”This stage has two staircases, one constructed to the main waterfalls in 1996 by Taysec. It was however rehabilitated by the Ghana Tourism Authority in 2017.

βœ”Do not sit or slide on the rail.

βœ”You may swim or bath at the base of the falls.

Waka buddies, we sat down for a break to try their street food

The 3rd waterfall can only be accessed via the staircases or canopy walkway.

The stairs are so long, you will have to catch your breath in between climbs. Can you speak the other staircases and stage 3 waterfall behind me?

It has 153 steps steps coming up and a new 173 steps going down and you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the waterfalls as you descend.

As much as I love adventures, I have a fear of heights,Β  yet I’ll still go on adventures that involves heights.

Apart from the Lekki Conservation Centre, Kintampo is the second place that I’ve gone on a canopy walk. I’m not going to talk about one woman that kept shaking the rope of the walkway even though she knew I was scared #lipsealed.

You get to enjoy a breathtaking view of the forest area and waterfalls as you use the canopy walkway.

Stage 3 has more area to play in the water

P.S: I wanted to share more pictures with you, but the pictures have refused to upload, hope you had fun reading through πŸ€—πŸ€—
