7 Sure Rules of Beating The Goliaths In Your Life – Leke Alder

Hi folks, I’m here with the second part of the post on Key Points From Upgrade Conference 2017. Like I promised, I said I’ll share with you the rules Mr Alder shared with us for beating / defeating the Goliaths in our lives.

You have to come to terms with the fact that life is hard. You can’t afford and easy life, but you can work to earn an easier life. – Leke Alder

Mr. Alder stressed the fact that life isn’t easy and emphasized the need for a warrior mentality so as to succeed in life. He pictured David and Goliath’s scenario and then gave us 7 rules to overcome Goliaths in our life.

You can read about David and Goliath story in the Bible in 1 Samuel chapter 17.

In the Bible, David was a young, handsome shepherd boy with experience in fighting lions and bears, while Goliath was a giant with experience in fighting wars and battles.

Under normal circumstances, there was no way David could have beaten Goliath, but David had skills and he had God on His side.

Please note that Goliath in this post does not necessarily mean huge human beings with six toes and all; it implies any thing, person, people or circumstances that are against you and bigger than you can normally handle.

The 7 rules for beating Goliath are:

1. Psych yourself up. The Goliaths are going to want to psych you down. Goliath did was to bully and frighten the Israelites, but David did not let it get to him.

2. Redefine the rules of engagement. You can’t out-goliath Goliath. Stick to your game. Goliath had a sword, spear, javelin; David had his sling and staff.

3. You’ve got to make Goliath fight your fight. Saul clothed David with Goliath’s style of dressing, but David knew that that couldn’t work for him, he went with his own style (a sling and stones).

4. Relish being underestimated, but have a surprise. Goliath ran towards David with a sword, David ran towards Goliath holding “nothing”; on getting closer, he pulled out his sling, and off the stone went straight to Goliath’s forehead.

5. Analyze your opponent’s exposure. Know his strength and weaknesses. Goliath’s strength is his weakness. David knew that the only way to be a Goliath was through his weakness which was a slight opening on his forehead; he knew that and went in for the kill.

6. Send out a decoy. Appear to be going to Apapa, then veer off and appear at Yaba.

1st Samuel 17:40 KJV: And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

7. Have the right technology/weapon strategy. Weapon strategy includes presentation, I.T, staffing, etc. Adapt your weaponry to the imperatives of the battle.

These principles can be applied to any area of your life where there are Goliaths. Mr. Alder explained these principles using work-related issues.
